Writing has always been the key element in George’s life. Whether it is in lyric, prose, theatre or cinema, George is a writer as much as a musician. He’s a working screenwriter in both North America and Europe and holds a masters degree in Film & Video. As well, he worked as an editor and journalist, writing for publications here and abroad. He was the founding publisher-editor of Shades, a groundbreaking Canadian urban music magazine considered to have set the template for many others that followed. Shades magazine, published bimonthly, was a mix of urban grit and street level music and culture. Contributors included Milton Acorn, Ioan Davies, Carole Corbeil, Paul Wilson, and Kirk Lapointe to name a few. It was distributed throughout Canada and in France. Its run lasted almost ten years. Prior to starting Shades, George was a staff writer at New York Rocker magazine.
